Make Your Own Wedding Rings with Mairi
Join me in my jewellery studio for a private, hands-on workshop where you’ll make your own wedding rings — designed and created by you, for each other.
This experience is about slowing down, working together, and marking an important moment with something meaningful and lasting with mairi in her home studio in Rural Northern Ireland.
No previous jewellery-making experience is required.
The Experience
This is a one-to-one workshop for couples, guided gently through the full process of making your wedding rings using traditional hand tools at the bench.
You’ll learn how to:
Measure and size your rings correctly
Form and shape your chosen metal (excluding platinum)
Solder and refine each ring
File, sand, and polish to a beautiful finish
By the end of the session, you’ll have two finished wedding rings, made by hand, together.
The workshop is unhurried and calm, allowing space to enjoy the process as much as the making.
Materials & Options
Wedding rings can be made in:
9ct & 18ct Yellow and white gold.
Fairmined gold - can be made in silver at the class and then sent off for casting in fairmined gold in 9,14,18ct.
Sterling silver
Platinum - can be made in silver at the class and then sent off for casting in platinum.
During the workshop, you can choose to:
Vary widths and profiles
Add a hammered or organic texture
Include a polished or satin finish - we recommend polish as matte finishes do not last.
Stamp initials, names, or dates inside the bands
If you have something specific in mind, we’ll discuss all options in advance of your workshop.
Duration
The workshop typically lasts 3-4 hours, allowing time to work at a relaxed pace and give your rings the attention they deserve.
Location
Workshops take place in my home jewellery studio near Kilrea, Northern Ireland.
Full details will be shared once your booking is confirmed.
Booking & Next Steps
Wedding ring workshops are booked as private sessions. The session starts from £450. The £450 includes making rings in silver and a hallmarking allowance. Additional costs for gold and platinum options and any additional engravings will be discussed and costed in advance. All materials will be purchased to order and can’t be changed during the class. Hallmarking is recommended following making your rings so do allow an additional couple of weeks for this. We recommend you make your rings 8-12 weeks before your wedding day.
As each pair of rings is made to order, pricing varies depending on metal choice, width, and finish.
